Clean-up underway after intense storm rips through Metro Detroit

The storm left its mark on Macomb County, with multiple trees knocked down in Fraser

Residents in Macomb County are grappling with the aftermath of a severe storm that left downed trees, power lines, and flooding across several communities.

On Wednesday (June 18), the storm was pretty bad. Many were left wondering if it was only round one with more severe weather on the way.

Joe Parisi said, “She called me and said we’ve got damage.”

The storm left its mark on Macomb County, with multiple trees knocked down in Fraser.

“I got home just after, and I pulled into the driveway and saw the branches in the front yard and thought, ‘Oh, that’s not that bad.’ Then I looked in the backyard. Thank God there’s not a lot of trees down,” said Bobby Parisi.

Now, the cleanup process is beginning for Bobby and Joe.

“I’ve been here since I was seven, and nothing like this has ever happened,” Joe said.

Just over eight miles from Fraser, in Harrison Township, heavy rain caused a mobile home complex to flood once again. Some residents resorted to using kayaks to navigate their neighborhood.

One man, who spoke with Local 4 over the phone, shared his frustration.

“No! I’m not walking out there now. Honestly, every time it rains hard, our corner’s flooded, and it’s never been this bad.”

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.

“We survived, so that’s the most important thing in this,” Joe said.

Crews have been working throughout the day to restore power and to get electricity back on as soon as possible.
